WORLD ART DAY – 15th April (Leonardo Da Vinci’s birthdate)

Today, the 15th April (World Art Day), we start a new project with 3rd year CSE Group C about some important pedagogical celebrations of the 3rd term in the Spanish calendar.

World Art Day is an international celebration of the fine arts which was declared by the International Association of Art (IAA) in order to promote awareness of creative activity worldwide.

La Belle Ferronnière, c. 1490–1498

The date was decided in honour of the birthday of Leonardo da Vinci. Da Vinci was chosen as a symbol of world peace, freedom of expression, tolerance, brotherhood and multiculturalism as well as art’s importance to other fields.

Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci (15 April 1452 – 2 May 1519) was an Italian polymath of the High Renaissance who was active as a painter, draughtsman, engineer, scientist, theorist, sculptor, and architect.

While his fame initially rested on his achievements as a painter, he has also become known for his notebooks, in which he made drawings and notes on a variety of subjects, including anatomy, astronomy, botany, cartography, painting, and paleontology.

Leonardo is widely regarded to have been a genius who epitomized the Renaissance humanist ideal, and his collective works comprise a contribution to later generations of artists.

Let’s listen to what they have to say. Thanks for your attention.
