WHY IS MUSIC SO IMPORTANT IN ANIMATION? – Chapter 3 COLOURS OF THE WIND

4th year CSE students continue the project entitled ‘Why Music is so Important in Animation?’ in order to enhance the value of music in animated movies. The main objective of this activity is to analyse the lyrics and discover the moral that songwriters wanted to transmit, why the songs are performed in a specific moment in these movies, and so on. All the songs selected have been award winners and and have been chosen for their valuable messages.

In our 3rd instalement, we will talk about the song ‘Colors of the Wind’, which is a song written by composer Alan Menken for Walt Disney Pictures animated feature film, Pocahontas.
The film’s theme song, «Colors of the Wind» was originally recorded by American singer and actress Judy Kuhn in her role as the singing voice of Pocahontas.

A pop ballad, the song’s lyrics are about respecting nature, finding its roots in indigenous Native American culture. This song won an Oscar Academy Award in 1995.

We hope you all accept that errors are part of our learning process and we need to fail sometimes to become perfect. Thanks for appreciating our mistakes in pronunciation.

Presenters, Natalia and Saray talk about this song in our radio station.

Let’s listen to what they have to say.
