WHY IS MUSIC SO IMPORTANT IN ANIMATION? – Chapter 5 You’ve got a Friend in Me.

4th year CSE students continue the project entitled ‘Why Music is so Important in Animation?’ in order to enhance the value of music in animated movies. The main objective of this activity is to analyse the lyrics and discover the moral that songwriters wanted to transmit, why the songs are performed in a specific moment in these movies, and so on. All the songs selected have been award winners and and have been chosen for their valuable messages.

In our 5th instalment, we will talk about the song «You’ve Got a Friend in Me«, which is a song by Randy Newman, used as the theme song for the Disney/Pixar animated film Toy Story.
The song was nominated for both the Academy Award for Best Original Song and the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song.

In Toy Story 2, an episode of Woody’s Roundup shows the puppet Woody singing the song, directed at the young audience and featuring a small child hugging the puppet. Woody sees this and has an epiphany, realizing that his mission as a toy is to be there for a child.

We hope you all accept that errors are part of our learning process and we need to fail sometimes to become perfect.

Thanks for appreciating our mistakes in pronunciation.

Presenters, César and Adrián, talk about this song in our radio station.

Let’s listen to what they have to say.
