C2. African American Women in the Civil Rights Movement

Welcome to our podcast! As Black History Month in the USA draws to a close and Purple March, the month dedicated to observing gender equality in our project EOIgualdad, begins, we’re excited to spotlight the often underestimated contributions of African American women to the civil rights movement. Today, we’ll delve into the lives of two remarkable, yet often ignored figures, Ericka Huggins and Mary McLeod Bethune, brought to us by our committed C2 fellow students, Antonio Galán Rodríguez and Nuria Agudo Alarcón.

Hosting the program is Carmen Berrocal Olmos.

The music playing in the background is «Strange Fruit» by Billie Holiday.
