The International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia

The International Day Against Homophia, Biphobia and Transphobia is observed on May 17th and aims to coordinate international events that raise awareness of LGBTIQ + rights violations and stimulate interest in LGTBIQ+ rights work worldwide.

The founders of the International Day Against Homophia, as it was originally known, established the IDAHO Committee to coordinate grass- roots actions in different countries, to promote the day and to lobby for official recognition on May 17th. That date was chosen to commemorate the decision to remove homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases of the World Health Organization in 1990

Our students Alejandro Díaz and Guillermo Calle reflect alongside our conversation assistant Patrick about this matter, they also reflect on matters like Stonewall riots, rights, violence, stereotypes, etc. With this type of podcast we intend to extol the need to create an egalitarian society, in which respect among others prevails, and create awareness about some problems that we can face in our current society.

We hope you like it!
